There are no shelters in White County but there are shelters in nearby counties that help people from here and one program that can sometimes offer a few days help in an emergency.
Homeless children and teens have a right to go to school and have help with certain things related to homelessness contact Paula Early Adams school Social Worker (706) 865-1216 This include teens who are not with their families and children and teens temporarily staying with people other than parents.

Habersham Homeless Ministries Clarkesville 706 754 9031 30 day transitional shelter plus help to get a job, find a long term rent you can afford, deal with the things that led to being homeless. Families stay in their own apartment, single adults share apartment with 2-3 roommates each has own room. Generally does not accept unmarried couples. No calls after 5 PM
Salvation Army 711 and 753 Dorsey St, Gainesville, GA (770) 534-7589 (770) 531-0135 dorm style separate men's and women's dorms. Not recommended for parent whose child is a different gender. Salvation army also as some transitional housing for families.
Hospitality Care - Caring Hands Ministries during severe weather outside of tourist season. 706 219 1980 motels donate 1 or more nights for a short term emergency stay. Best to call as early in day as possible so someone can return your call
Women and Children
